“Exílio” (Exile) by Império Pacífico is their first LP. Taking influences from Daft Punk, John T Gast or New Order, this new release pinpoints key factors in electronic music while driving away from the comfort a sub-genre can bring. Raw synths and cityscape samples bloom from the rhythm as if heard from the outskirts. A new perspective to the already established groundwork in electronic music. Coming from fast-paced EPs who thrived to race you through the tracks, this new work comes closer to a cinematic journey.
Império Pacífico are Luan Bellussi (trash CAN) and Pedro Tavares (funcionário) who present themselves as part of the music of the future in Lisbon.

I haven't heard anything as just completely perfectly formed out of the gate--every decision the right one, what to include but more what to exclude--maybe ever. Don't know who Sault is, but they do not sound like they could be anyone who hasn't paid some dues to get this good. Or signed some Satanic contracts. 100% confidence, and it sounds 110% earned. Marius Circus’s cover of Lindstrøm’s “I Feel Space” is epic and expansive; Weatherall’s remix is dark, dubby, and haunting. Bandcamp New & Notable Nov 23, 2018
